Best for 2011
(in no particular order)
- Terekke’s debut EP on L.I.E.S.
- the amazing b side on Kurtis Scott - If You Feel It 7” [Peoples Potential Unlimited]
- the unreleased material that came into light through the reissues of Virgo Four - Ressurection Box [Rush Hour] and Gene Hunt’s ‘Chicago Dance Tracks Part 1 & 2’. Both on Rush Hour Recordings
- the darker direction of Juju & Jordash on the Unleash The Golem Part 1 [Golf Channel]
- the rare Paul McCartney’s ‘Blue Sway’ balearic obscurity finally on vinyl … from the days of McCartney II album … even if it is a bootleg thing
- Steve Moore’s tracks on the Zero-Point Field EP … sounds like Tangerine Dream playing dub techno to me ..
- the album of the first Greek minimal synth bands on the Minimal Wave label … In Trance 95 - Cities Of Steel And Neon … containing the classics ‘Desire To Desire’ and ‘Brazilia’
- the ultradeep track by Big Strick under the name ‘Yllabian Dogfight’ on Detroit Heat EP [7 Days Ent.]
- at last the best Sendex jam on vinyl … Sendex - Jams From The Past [Bunker]
- the volume 3 of the Unit Moebius re-issues called ‘The Golden Years Part 3’… probably their best tracks
- the two 10” by D’Marc Cantu on M>O>S Recordings … still can not decide which one is my favorite …
- the ‘Without U’ track by the new R-A-G project on M>O>S Recordings once again … reminds me those classic G Strings releases from the 90s
- i’m not fond of the most re-edits anymore .. but the re-edit ‘Needs Ending’ from the Try To Find Me Vol.3 on Golf Channel is gorgeous
- the non-stop releases of Legowelt … especially the Sark Island Acid EP, Poverties Paradise EP, Moves For CeeCee and the Teac Life album had some really great moments
- the brand new alias of Speculator/Grackle under the surprise name Willie Burns … tracks like ‘Another Night’ and ‘Fantasy MD’ will be on heavy rotation for the next year as well.
- the diversity of the ‘Vibe 2’ compilation on Future Times
- the unique productions of Maximillion Dunbar on ‘Max Trax For World Peace EP’ and his latest ‘Everyday EP’.
- the unofficial reissue Mid Air - Ease Out .. especially the instr. is a truly amazing boogie jam
- the raw production of J.T.C.’s ‘Creep Acid’ LP
- the ‘Modem’ track on the great 10” called Saturn V / X2 - Rhythm Relics on Nation
- BNJMN’s ‘Black Square’ album … some killer cuts in there like the ‘Keep the Power Out’
- the return of Paul Bennett with his Mod Two EP and Innergaze’s on their also second release under the name ‘Shadow Disco’ … ‘Way of Life’ is the track
- the fresh crossover between house and afro funk on Daphni’s ‘Jiao’ track
- the instrumental version of Marcus Mixx’s ‘Liquid Love’ on Rdy#4 … so deep … no need to say that i love the madness of ‘Crazy Hardy Edit’
- all the John Heckle releases … that producer seemed so promising from him first release already
(I’m sure i’m forgetting a lot of stuff .. but that’s it for now)
